I’ve always wondered what they do with all the hats thrown on the ice after a hat trick. Do they collect them and you can pick them back up, do they clean them and donate them or just throw them away?

At the AAC in Dallas, they collect all the hats in a large bin and put them in the lost and found. You can throw your hat on the ice to celebrate a hat trick and then go reclaim it after the game.

the rule of thumb e book extremely says not some thing would nicely be thrown on the ice. Hats after a hat trick is the single tacitly condoned exception. If throwing octopi(?) were nonetheless allowed, it would were some sight in Detroit very last nighttime. Too undesirable, that replaced into an magnificent custom too.

On Hockey Night in Canada one saturday, they said that if you throw your hat onto the ice and want it back there is somewhere that you can pick it up after the game. Hope this helps a bit... Likely the rest of the hats get donated...

They're usually donated. Some teams will have the players autograph them and then give the hats to kids in local hospitals.
