tide is the best, but arm & hammer is cheaper, and it is the only detergent that scores as high as tide on all the consumer tests I have seen. works for me!

Use tide... it might be more exspencive, but your getting your money's worth!! If you use the generic brands you end up using more in the long run just to meet the cleaning power that tide uses. My best friend uses purex, i watch her put 2 and a half cups of detergent in for every load of laundry, i flipped my lid when i seen that and asked her what are you doing, she told me that she always uses that much it gets the clothes cleaner, i use about a 1/4 cup of detergent (tide) for a full load of laundry. Like i said you may pay more, but you'll get the job done right the first time!!

My favorite brands are Tide and Whisk. I think they clean the greasy food stains and most everything else. But since I got my front loaders, its hard to find the HE Tide and Whisk. I talked to a friend who works on appliances and he said the biggest mistake most people make is using too much soap for the load and that you can use detergents that are not made for front loaders by simpy adjusting the dose downwards. If you see suds, too much soap! Also for front loaders, to try and use Soaps labeled Ultra, as they have a lower sudsing formula. I also looked online with Consumer Reports and they essentially said the same thing. They listed some other detergents, as best buys the Tide HE and Whisk HE and recommends using less than recommended. Soap that stays behind on clothes, tends to make them look dingy and dirty still. So in this case, my friend backed up what I later read with Consumer Reports. I managed to find a free reference to the article on this site, Hope it helps you!

I was comparing prices of the concentrates the other day, specifically Tide, and realized that you get the same amount of loads for your money from regular and concentrated. I.E. Concentrated=100 Loads=$12.00.
Regular=50 Loads=$6.00.

So you're really not saving any money.

I have tried them all..
I am a long time TIDE user, and I stay true to my brand..
BUT

If for some reason I am in a bind and need laundry soap immediatly and cant get TIDE, I will buy CHEER or GAIN ( I will use them and they clean decently, but they are not my prefered detergent)

Some times the most affordable is not the best and you end up paying double, because thhe affordable one did'nt work. TIDE WITH BLEACH OR PLAIN TIDE is the one you want many times you can find it on sale .

All Mighty.. For the price it last's longer- a month for two adults-that's washing everything from dishrags to rugs to bedding to the extra cleaning rags you have from the deep cleaning I do once a month or sooner if need be.
