I am working in my job for a year and I got a call from a place I used to work saying that somebody has left (who was in a higher position than me) and now that I have more experience would I like their job. I am training as a Lawyer and doing exams and said that all I was looking for my traineeship. They telephoned back to arrange a meeting and when I went there, they were just asking why I wanted to leave my present job, what was I doing there and why did I apply for a job there. Why did they ring and offer me a job? If the whole time they are asking why I am not happy in my job. I thought the whole idea of contacting someone when they are already working somewhere and offering them a job is because you want them, not they want you. Am I right??? Is that not how headhunting goes?

Yes, you're right. SO TELL THEM THAT!!! If they ask, tell them you are happy at your current position but they contacted you and since you had worked there previously, you felt you owed them a meeting at the least. And you were interested in hearing what they had to say.
