they range from 3"x3" to 9"x9", not really sure how deep. They are a constant source for mold/algea because of water and humidity and must go.

Chip, beat, crack, smash...no way to save them!
But, there are some lovely craft ideas for the ceramic chips!

Use a masonry chisel around the grout lines

Get a small chisel and a hammer (or a large screwdriver will work) and start chipping them off. Once you get started it should become easier.
