Oh yes !!!!! Do the crime do the time ........................... you could set up different punishments for different crimes ..... Theft ..... once - one hand off ..... twice - other hand off (wouldn't do it again) Think about rape !!!!!!!

Generally, no, it shouldn't be brought back. In any human process, there is a potential for error. If you execute just one person who was innocent, then you have made an irrevokable mistake. England is aware that several such mistakes occurred under the old system.
Lock them up and throw away the key, and make it tough, not a holiday camp. That's the best punishment for a criminal.
