I looking to make this a permant swell isn't there a wood swelling product?

For a small job, loose chair leg , joint ,etc.
There is a product called "chairlock" which works well.
Steam & water will swell wood temporarily.

An old Jade mine in my county used wood wedges driven into the cracks of stone to split out chunks of Jade. Water was applied and when the wedges swelled, they split the Jade. Slow time consuming process that requires the wood to stay immersed in water for several weeks. I don't think it will work for what you have planned. You will do better to spend a few hours draining the tank and then making any adjustment you need.

it depends on what you are trying to acheive , soaking in a tub of water is great , if it is to repair a ding then take a rag with water and use a hot iron on the rag over the ding , this will swell up thew effected area and you can repair small dings .....
