I have tried almost everything with my son as well and finally tried a Playtex Teething Pacifier. This thing is great. I just didn't want my son to always be taking drugs.

This is going to sound terrible, I dont' know anything about granules, but for both of my boys, when they were teething, i'd go buy a thick piece of jerky (not the ground or soft type) and let them chew on it (with close supervision of course). Here is the reasoning.
1. It gives them something to chew on.
2. Jerky's contain meat tenderizers which soften their gums and make it easier to cut teeth.
3. They like the taste of the jerky.
4. It's not doping them up all the time
5. They say anbesol can actually toughen the gums making teething more drawn out and miserable for a child.
Again, note that I stated you must do this with CLOSE SUPERVISION. It could be dangerous if they break off a piece and choke on it.
That's what worked for me :)

Like momma2mingbu suggested the Highland's Teething Tablets are good; you can buy these at any vitamin store. There is a non-medicinal homoeopathic remedy called Camilia which works good; you can get this at Fortino's (Canadian?). But all in all, the best thing is Infant's Motrin. It has a pain and fever reliever, and it's also an anti-inflammatory for the sore swollen gums. It also lasts 8 hours where Tylenol lasts only 4.

I tried them once and the baby vomited like crazy. They might work for others but they are not for everyone. Of course you want to limit the use of Tylenol but it does get the job done. To be quite honest with you, sometimes the baby will just cry and there's not a thing you can do about it. It's not your fault or the baby's fault. Best of luck, hang in there.

My son liked the baby orajel, but my daughter, 9 month old now, will not take anything except (I'm not sure what it is called), but Wal-Mart sells them. It is a net thing attached to a ring and we put ice in it or pedialyte pops in it and she loves it. They are only like $3-$4. Worth it. I bought two and I take one with us when we go out. You can get ice anywhere and just pop it in if they get fussy.

Try Hyland's Teething Tablets. They are the best.
