when the father joins the military and moves to another state? My husband and I currently have every other weekend and one overnight per week. But that is going to have to change once we move. What is normally granted in court when this happens? I am sure that it is up to the judge and varies by state but just wanted to see what other people got. Thanks!!

Also, we asked for 6 weeks in the summer before in court (before he decided on the military) and the judge said that because the child is not "school age" he would not give us summer time. The child is 2 1/2.

Most likely when you live in different states that will supersede the school age summer ruling. Longer summertime visits will make up for the loss of every other weekend and your overnite. You will prob also be able to alternate years for major holidays. Maybe one year Christmas the next year Easter or thanksgiving?
Hopefully your husband and the child's mother can come up with something amicable. Plus you will most likely have to purchase the flight tickets.
I hope all works out.. I am a total advocate of children spending time with both parents. As much as I hated my ex I always felt that the girls deserved to love him..I decided early on that any lack of a relationship between him and the girls would solely be his responsibility! Best of Luck to you and your husband and God Bless the child!

he should get one month in the summer and everyother holiday. just because the child is 2 an1/2 don't mean anything , if the father has a reliable babysitter while he works.

Well, with my daughter, I had her six seeks in the summer, and every other Christmas. I had to purchase the airline tickets for her travel.
