The sugar pills are just a way to keep up the pattern of taking a pill every day...They are for the time when, theoretically, she is sloughing off the uterine lining, and is having her period.
This lining was created by her body believing that she already was pregnant, not from the body providing space for an egg, as would happen with a woman who is not on the pill.
Women on the pill do not ovulate.
If she were not on the pill, she would be fertile two weeks AFTER her period, not during it.
If she continues to take the pill as normal, her body will not have an opportunity to produce an egg, so there should be no chance of fertilization.

As long as she starts the next pill pack on her scheduled time(when the sugar pills are done) there should be no risk of pregnancy. The sugar pills are really nothing, just to keep you in the habit of taking the pill everyday while a woman gets her period. Many women don't even take them, just start their next pill cycle a week after ending the last.
Depending on which type of pill she is on, depends on how it works. Some trick your body to not release an egg. It just depends on what hormones make up the pill. You can go to the pill types website to find out all the details.

The Pill is over 99% accurate if taken daily. The Birth Control Pill is any drug which uses artificial hormones to keep a woman from getting pregnant or from staying pregnant by interfering with her normal fertility.
Although she should take the pill at roughly the same time of day, it is not considered missing the pill unless she forgets to take the pill for the whole day.
If one hormone pill is missed: take it with current day's pill (2 total) as soon as possible.
If two hormone pills are missed: take 2 pills as soon as you remember, and 2 the next day, then back to normal.
If three pills are missed, that's it! you will get your period. Throw away the package and start over with a new package.
If you miss a sugar pill, don't worry about it.
If you miss any hormone pills, use a backup method of birth control (such as condom) for the rest of the month.
See link below for basic information.

The sugar pill cycle is to keep your habit of taking your birth control pill daily intact, and not forgetting to take your pill and also so that you maintain that habit, it also means none of the hormore blocking conception is in place either. While possible, the chance is very slight that she became pregnant during this "event" of the condom breaking. Just the same, I would continue using the condom and the bc, because while the chances are slim, you two don't want to be the exceptions that make the statistics. OK? OK! Good luck!

You shouldn't get pregnant on the sugar pill because the birth control hormones are still in your blood stream and it shouldn't affect anything as long as the birth control has been taken at the same time every day.

The reason they include sugar pills in birth-control pill packets is so the woman can just take a pill every day; it's a lot easier than remembering, "now, is today a day I'm supposed to take a pill or not?" If she has been taking her birth control pills every single day, you should be fine.

If you were not covered for the 'sugar pill time' then this would be informed on the leaflet with the pill. You will be covered for this 1 week. Just relax, chill. If you are very worried she could try and take the morning after pill.

No, as long as she's taking them regularly, you are protected even during the "sugar pill" time frame. If she hasn't missed any of the pills and she is good about taking them, then you're safe.

What?! Do you mean during the last week of pills in the package? I have never heard you could get pregnant then. She should not be ovulating during that time! That would only be a day or two before or after her period and ovulation is 14 days after or before with some leeway.
