Definately slowly. I've seen too many of my loved ones pass away suddenly. It leaves the family hurting much more, because it is harder to accept. I have also seen loved ones die from cancer (and I've seen them beat cancer, too). It gave them a lot of time to come to terms with their death, get their affairs in order, and allows everyone to say all those things that a sudden death doesn't. There are a lot of regrets with a sudden death.

Quick and painless. True your family would be able to prepare for your death if you are sick, but how prepared can you ever really be for a love one to be lost? However if you just drop dead one night, or day, then your family doesn't have to watch you suffer and they don't have to take care of you while you are sick which takes a heavy emotional toll on everyone, even the sick person. I don't ever want to burden my family in that way.

Slowly, so they could prepare. My son is only 6 and already worries himself about my death. I want to be around for him for a very long time, and when I do die, I want it to be as easy on HIM as possible. My pain and suffering do not matter, if it spares him some.

If I knew for certain that me dying a slow and horrible death would not upset my family more than necessary but would instead help them deal with my passing, then yes, I would die slowly.â¥

No matter what you do, you are never fully prepared for death. I have found that sometimes it's easier for them to suddenly die rather than watch someone you love suffer for a long time. Either way , you lose someone you love. It's hard no matter what.

Quickly and painlessly. Yes, it's very shocking but it's better than an illness, family won't wanna see you suffering and it will hurt them aswell.

Quickly, I don't want my family to suffer, seeing me sick and not able to do anything. Seeing my grandfather's death, after a long illness (lung cancer) as a little girl. I can remember my mother's and grandmother's faces and their desperation (of not being able to do anything about it) in taking care of him. (they tried to hide it but I could still see it). So I rather go as quickly as I can

How about suddennly, yet painfully. That way you get the best of all worlds: A great story, lots of hurt, and your family is like "What the heck!"
ps. great question!
