Hi Grumpy Dufus:
Well, that's an interesting take on Christmas, but likely a tongue in cheek question. Christmas is, of course, celebrating the birth of Christ. There are serious doubts now as to the appropriateness of the date -- Dec 25, as archaeologists and researchers have suggested that sometime near the end of August would have been more appropriate. People would not have been called to Bethlehem in the middle of the harvest season, nor during the spring planting season. And there have been several changes in the calendar over the past 2,000 years, so it's possible that the date we now celebrate isn't accurate at all.
Santa's birthday has never been brought up. He became part of the Christmas scene through the Scandinavian legend of St. Nicholas, who gave toys to good girls and boys and left lumps of coal in the clogs of bad girls and boys. The St. Nicholas legend is believed to be based on an earlier, pagan legend, but was subsumed by the Christian church missionaries in the Scandinavian countries and the lovely image of St. Nick was adopted throughout the Christian world as part of the Christmas story.
The gift giving reflects the gifts of the Magi, but there is nothing in the biblical accounts that would explain the lumps of coal left for bad boys and girls, which leads researchers to believe there was an older, pagan story involved with that.

Christmas appears to be the celebration of the birth of money and how fast you can spend it. Not much real meaning to Christmas anymore unless you keep your heart pure and stay out of malls.

No; CHRISTmas is around the day that Jesus Christ was born, and people celebrate(d) it in recognition that Christ is God's son.
To most, it has become a holiday for everyone (instead of just Christians) to spread the gift if giving.

Nope, it is supposed to be the birthday of Jesus, except Pope Gregory decided to change the calendar and December 25th is not really Jesus' birth date. Most scholars thing Jesus' real birthday was around April 14th.

No and it's not Jesus' birthday either. It was originally the European Pagan winter solstice. Believed to have origins in the Roman Saturnalia as well as other cultural winter celebrations.
