I bought a car at a used car lot. Powerwindows worked fine at the time. One week later, passenger side goes out. Is it my responsibility or the owners to pay/fix it?

First, If I'm still making payments, would that make me the owner? Second, I wasn't sure about the lemon law in my state, NV. I've been told it's a 90 day warrenty on all cars, new or used.

If you bought the car, you ARE the owner. Beyond that, it all depends on if the car came with any warranty. If it's an older car, most likely you bought it as is. Only you know the answer for sure.

If I can be of further assistance, please feel free to e-mail me.

Unless you received a written warranty that specifically covers power windows, you are going to have to pay for the repair yourself.

Most used car warranties cover the power train only (engine, transmission, rear end)

The fact that you are making payments has nothing to do with the repairs. What you did was purchase the car, and you borrowed money (financed) the money. Even if the dealer is doing the financing in house, you still are the owner of the vehicle, and the dealer holds a security interest (lien) on the vehicle.

If you bought it with a safety and a 90 day warranty on it and you have had it for less than 2 weeks take it back. If the car lot will not do anything for you ask for a clarification on the 90 warranty. Go and complain to your local better business bureau and find out what the lemon laws are for your state. Good Luck!

If it was under warranty, which most used cars are not, then it is the dealer's responsibility. If it was not sitpulated in a warranty then it is your resposnibility. Talk to the dealer and see if he/she can help with it after all it's only been a week. Good luck.

Yours. Most used car dealers sell on an "As Is" basis. Unless you received a warranty with the vehicle, it was sold as is meaning anything that goes wrong, it is your responsibility to repair.

Erm, you are the owner?

Used car lots sell cars to you in the condition that tehy are when you buy them, It's the buyers resonsibility to inspect the car for faults etc.

Unless you got some kind of warranty off them then it's pot bad luck and it's up to you to pay out i'm afraid, unless your garage can prove that the seller must've known about it in advance of selling it to you, but that would involve messing about with lawyers

Did the car come with any kind of warranty? Probably not, if your asking who should pay. Call the car lot and tell them what happened - they might agree to fix, however I think probably it's going to be up to you.

Depends if there are any Lemon Laws in your state.

Also, is there a warranty on the used car? If so, does it cover those power windows?

Need to check those first. If that's a no on those, then you will most likely have to pay yourself to get it fixed.

Was the car sold "as is"? If so, the car and it's problems are yours from the time you hand over the money.

Did the car have a warenty of any kind?
