Its a process called SEO, Search Engine Optimization that consist in getting top positions at important search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, this process involve a lot of points. I would recommend you if you have the budget to hire a SEO Representative, if not, you can start trying to get inbound links to your site as search engines use links to find your site, try to get valuable, related and well ranked sites that point to your site, how? you can create a links page on your site to swap links with other webmasters. Elaborate a newsletter with valuable content that people could be interesting to add your link on them sites, use your most interesting content and add links to your home page as well as to internal pages to offer your products. You can provide links to trustful industry sites.
Try submitting your site to search engines and free directories.
Make a keyword analysis based on the keywords you would like your visitors find your site at search engines with, once done this keyword analysis, distribute this keywords on your site texts, depending the page use the keywords that better fit that page.

You may try some other avenues while your learning SEO. SEO takes a long time and is for the experienced. Why dont you try google adwords. This lets you get your site in the top exposures immediately. Free classifieds, craigslist, etc.....

1) Write a press release about your business and submit it for free to http://www.prweb.com
2) Write a keyword rich article that pertains to your website and submit it to http://www.ezinearticles.com
3) Write a classified ad and submit it to the many free classified ad sites online
