let's start with the realistic streotypes....
in general:
great farmers
amazing builders (have you seen their homes!!!)
energetic dancers
craftsmen - wood, embroidaray, painting, landscaping
winter sportsmen
GREAT gooks - let's see gingerbread, pierogi, globki, etc
they speak Polish
they are faith & family driven
now for those things NOT streotypically thought of:
- brilliant thinkers - copernicus, curie's, etc
- learned - while visiting our guide was telling us about in 5th grade when he had to learn german he was a little upset about it and his mother mentioned that if he didn't learn to speak it how would he ever read the great works of ..... yeah, i didn't even know who they were let alone ever think about reading in their native language!
- detremined -- what other country would not exist on a map for over 180 years and still maintain their heritage, language and sense of patriotism?! my grandparents spoke onlypolish, knew only of being polish yet their birth certificates read russia & austria as when they were born - poland wasn't!
- more determined - look at the solidarity movement
- loving - while visiting i never offered a smile that wasn't returned 10 fold. i never had a worry or concern when walking along the streets at night. i never was laughed at because my Polish was soooooo broken.
- hard working - growing up the comment was always - you know you're in one of the Polish neighborhoods becuase they are the only people who clean their stoops, dirveways AND the streets in front of their homes. they take pride in whatever thy do.
i could go on and on but let metell you -- I'm very proud to be Polish - even if it's only 2nd generation.

I think they are everywhere, I mean there is many Poles in the UK and in the USA as well.
They are quite hardworking and reliable, but they like to stick together.
When they speak polish, it actually sounds funny,so I like their dialect and polish accent.
