A yearly preventive maintenance contract is the best way to go. These are available from most A/C companies. What this does is they come out twice a year (or more depending on program you sign up for) and do a complete check of the system. In the spring time they will ckeck all components that deal with the A/C working properly. In the fall they check all heating items.
A lot of times they are able to catch something that will eventually cause major problems and fix them before that happens. Most companies offer priority to calls from PM contract holders and more than likely offer a discount on parts/labor to these customers also.
Think about your automobile.....would you drive the devil out of it and never have the oil changed? Your HVAC equipment is the way. It works vey hard and for many hours to not take care of. Besides the initial purchase of a home, the HVAC system is one of the highest items you have so take care of it.
Most companies will offer a discount on the 2nd, 3rd and so on units within the same home.
Be sure to change your filters monthly and spend a little more to get better quality filters. They are worth it.

Always have your combustion furnace serviced before each seasonal use due to the chance of co2 poisoning. A heat pump type heater needs to have a clean coil to keep the ref pressure from getting to high and damaging the compressor. An electric heat strip heater needs to either be cleaned of dust, and lint so it will not flame up when started, or cleaned using compressed nitrogen.

lots relies upon on what you may have adequate money. i propose a pre season verify up. A sparkling burning furnace will require little or no cleansing. Many organizations provide pre season verify up's at a redused value. pay attention of very low expenses for the verify up. the agency can't make a income at that value. i will guarantee they'll discover some thing incorrect or provide a provider you do not want. Ask friends or acquaintances who they use. it is better than taking your possibilities with the phone e book. yet another little bit of advice. in case you may, watch them yet keep quiet. in the journey that they don't need you to visual demonstrate unit, call some different person the subsequent time.

I have to agree with Rascal babe. You need to get your system checked out twice a year. Also change your filters every 30 days. It is also important if you have a warranty company like American Home shield, to get your system maintenance twice a year. That shows them you maintain your unit and ( most of the time)they can not denied your claim. That is with all warranty company's.
