I asked this question earlier, but didn't get many answers...

I'm 34 (almost 35) weeks pregnant (first pregnancy) and for the past week or so I've been getting really sharp pains in my vagina. Not just a few, but a lot throughout the day. Sometimes it's just when I'm sitting, and other times it's when I get up from sitting, rolling over in bed, or even walking! Also, I've had really lose bowel movements for the past two weeks, and I'm pretty sure the baby has already dropped. I've been having a lot of pressure (sometimes it feels like he is just going to fall out!) and my belly looks/feels lower. I've also been getting a lot of braxton hicks contractions...not in regular intervals, just random ones throughout the day.

Is it normal to have these symptoms at 34 (almost 35) weeks?

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, and I intend to ask her the same thing, but I was just curious if anyone else has had these things happen.

Thanks! :)

All of that is comply normal. I just turned 35 weeks sunday and I am going through some of the same things. Your body is just prepareing for the welcomeing of your little one. The sharp pains in your vagina is a thing called lightening. * Your baby "drops."
since this is your first pregnancy, you may feel what's known as "lightening" a few weeks before labor starts. You might detect a heaviness in your pelvis as this happens and notice less pressure just below your ribcage, making it easier to catch your breath. With the bowel thing you can either have lose stool or constipation witch is normal with the baby moveing into the birth cannel. and braxton hicks unfortunely is something we have to deal with. I hope that i helped you some. T.W.

You go through phases like that because of the different things your body is doing to get that baby ready. Aside from the obvious exhaustion you are experiencing from sheer size right now, you likely aren't sleeping well. And you are probably getting up a few times every night to pee. I am not far behind you. I am 32 weeks 3 days and I am feeling the effort it takes to simply get dressed. When I was prego with my daughter I was teaching. I was so stressed out just from the job. If my husband planned or did anything that kept me from getting in that bed by 9:30 at the latest, I was a ***** on wheels!!!

My sister experienced the same thing with both of her pregnancies and she went full term (40 weeks). Her first child had to be induced at 41 weeks. It's pretty normal to experience a lot of pressure in your pelvic and vagina. Your body is preparing itself for labor and the joints are becoming more flexible. Add the weight of your baby and all the extra fluids, and the pressure builds up quick. Hang in there and definitely tell you doctor about it! Best of luck and congrats! You're almost a Mommy!

well i am 36 weeks pregnant and i have had the same pains and stuff for the past two weeks, i think it is just your body getting ready to have the baby, not any time real soon but in a few weeks. i went through the same thing about the same time with my other pregnancy, and she was born about 3 day after her due date. i wouldn't worry about it too much, just get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids, and try to get LOTS of sleep. GOOD LUCK!!

This is really normal, it can be scary if you don't know what it is but it's nothing to be afraid of. Your body is getting ready for the baby's arrival and is adjusting itself. This tends to start happening as soon as the baby drops and happens to almost all women, just some feel it more than others. Do check with your doctor but please don't worry about it, there's nothing wrong with you. Good Luck and I hope you have a wonderfull experience.

I am 34 weeks as well and i'm going through the same thing. I thought i was the only one. My doctor said it was normal, and if the pain gets severe go to the hospital.

i had the same sharp pains too. it was my first pregnancy and i had them all through the 3rd trimester. doctor said it was just muscles getting tired and over stretched. also baby is laying on veins and nerves. anytime he/she moves it could trigger a little spasm inside there. my pains would shoot up my stomach or down my legs as well. what i had was nothing to worry about. good luck at the Dr. and good luck with the baby :)

Yep - I'm 35 weeks 1 day, and have all the same symptoms! As long as your contrax aren't steady and timeable, you're not in labor. If they get consistent, then it's time to call your doctor.

My dear,my wife just delivered on 6th of this month,nov.2006, and she experienced about 90% of what you are having now.Her doctor told her that most women experienced same with their first pregnancy, advised her never to miss any of her appointment and should take all her prescriptions religiously., she obeyed and had safe delivery. Thank God you will see your doctor tomorrow, follow all doctor's instructions and take your drugs as prescribed, with God on your side you will definitely have safe delivery just as my wife did in Jesus name -amen.
