The British Government sent in every tax payers name, just under half a percent of the gross national income which runs into billions and even more is pledged whenever a national crisis occurs.
Not enough in my opinion and I am a British tax payer. We should help those less fortunate than ourselves it is called humanity and I am sorry but charity might begin at home but it shouldn't stay there that is just greed, if Bono and Bob Geldolf want to harp on about it and bring it to our attention then why not after all if it wasn't them it would be someone else wouldn't it?

According to Wikipedia, The United Kingdom is a member of the ODA (Official Development Assistance), along with:

USA
Japan
France
Germany
Sweden
Netherlands

The UK donates roughly 0.36% of their Gross National Income

Follow this link to Wikipedia, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_Development_Assistance), to look at the othe mentioned countries, to give you a perspective of the amount the UK donates compared to the other nations that contribute.

I think i'm right in saying also, that the UK is committed to increasing contributions as a percentage of Gross National Income.

Also if you look at the table to the link i posted, you can see, as a percentage of GNI, the USA contributes the least, the most wealthiest nation in the world. Norway contributes the most.

They give far too much when we still have our needy such as pensioners trying to live on subsistence wages, our homeless and our sick not being able to afford their medicines. The government are collecting billions more every year and wasting it on other countries that have corrupt governments, who syphon the money and aid off, so it does not reach their citizens.

Way to much!!!

They are to quick to make themselves look great to the outside,
It's ok to do this provided they can afford to do so, but they can't.

And as a result of that they have to think of another way to get money off people who are already struggling??

It's ok for the likes of bono and lets say bob geldof to keep harping on about aid..poverty etc...but they go home to their 3 million pound mansions at the end of the day.

All it does is put more pressure one way or another on people here who do not go home to a 3 million pound mansions at the end of the day...i.e...plain ordinary.. not well off families like mine who are already struggling.
