Take your cue from your baby.
4 oz every 2 hrs seems like a lot to me-- maybe that's why he spits up a lot.
Talk to your pediatrician.

The milk calculator at the link below will help you guage how much to put into a bottle. It's rare for a breastfed baby to take more than 4 oz of milk in a bottle. He's probably spitting it up because you are overfeeding him. Make sure you are burping him if you are feeding expressed milk in a bottle too. Every 2-3 hours would be normal at this age. Breastmilk digests in about 90 mins.

Sounds perfect to me! If he spits up a lot when you give him more than 4 oz, then stick to what you're doing. My daughter used to eat the exact same amount when she was that age. She is now almost 8 months and she is down to 3 bottles of 6 oz per day; which is less than statistically required but she gets 3 meals of solids a day and is perfectly fine. Call the pediatrician and ask how often you should feed him, and if it is normal for him to be spitting up.
It could be a few things. The baby could be overeating, or allergic to something that you are eating or drinking that is coming through your breast milk.
All kids are different, but my daughter was breastfed 10 months and she never threw up breast milk once, only formula when i would have to supplement it for an emergency.
Please do call. It would benefit you and your baby both to know.
Good luck and God bless you both.

i don't think he should be eating at this point. his tummy might not be ready for it and the sign that he spits maybe telling you that. babies can be started with food at 4 months and then too a few spoons which can be built over the next few months. i am a mother and a doctor so my advise would be not to feed right now.
the American pediatric association recommends waiting for 6 months. but a few doctors recommend with caution to start at 4. 3month is a little too young

feed him when he is hungry..... and dont give him more than 4 oz... and burp him after like 2 so he can make more room in his stomache so he can fit a bit more if he wants too. and if your afraid he is eating too much give him some oatmeal with his milk... it will fill him up faster... ask ur doc first though

all babies eat differently. my first son ate every 2 hours (i don't know how much cuz he nursed), day and nite. my twins eat different times and amount each time. as long as he's gaining weight and doing well, i think it's fine.
