Who likes "But Not Tonight" by Depeche Mode?

I "just can't get enough" of this song, LOL! And the video is beautiful, except for Gahan's stupid dancing! LOL

I love it too. I became a devotee (Depeche Mode fan) when I first heard "Strangelove" about 15 years ago. I now own over 60 music cd's from the group. I must admit that there was a time when also I couldn't stop listening to that particular song. It has some kind of voodoo.

And to think that the guys recorded the song in one day and that it wasn't supposed to make it on any album!
Martin had a very fixed idea of how he wanted the song to sound. The song reflects on how painful it was for Depeche Mode to record the album "Black Celebration". As Dave put it, "If there was ever a time that Depeche Mode would break up, it would have happened during the making of Black Celebration".

Depeche Mode also showed a distaste for corporate manipulation when Sire flipped the "Stripped" single - which Depeche Mode had spend three weeks perfecting - to take advantage of it's B-side, "But Not Tonight", (a throwaway song that was recorded in one day). Good heavens! What would have happened if Depeche Mode decided to take it off the single? We would have all been robbed of such an excellent production, don't you think?
