Sounds like it could be a short in the wiring to the monitor. If it changes as you slowly open or close the monitor, then that is it. If it is visible before windows boots up, then that is it as well.

Things go wrong with computers all the time. I wouldn't say one issue like this would be enough to just dismiss the company altogether. For example, I have owned 4 Macs and one of them had to go in for repair cause it kept shutting down. The other 3 have worked for years without any issues. If I had only bought that one with the issues and dismissed Apple for what amounts to nothing more than bad luck, then I could very well have run into your issue with Sony next. And then what do I say? All computers are crappy?
The real test of the company is whether they address your issue quickly and professionally. Apple did this very well. If the issue keeps up or happens with multiple Sony machines over time, then yes, you may want to consider trying something else.

PC's are terrible! Get a MAC!!!!!!!! They have everything you could every want fro ma computer, you can make HD MOVIES, watch movies, play games, lots of memory, store virtually everything, make you own music (without an instrument), video chat online, switch to a Windows OS to use their programs, annd all without a singl;e virus! How's about that? Spend an extra couple hundred dollars for a computer you can trust!

What, you probably tweaked it and corrupted the computer. You need to do a restore. If there is nothing wrong with the hardware, Sony is a good brand.

Sony used to make great hardware, now, well, I don't buy Sony anymore.
It's sad really, I can remember when Sony was cutting edge and had great quality. Now they follow and don't seemed too worried about quality.
Just my opinion.
