Because you don't get points for adopting an AMerican or European kid these days. She is trying to get on the Angelina Jolie bandwagon but I think thei has backfired a bit.

It kind of amazes me that people have so much to criticize Madonna about just because she is adopting a little boy who was in an orphanage in a place where there is such horrible poverty.
The U.S. and Europe don't have the conditions that Africa has, and the U.S. and most of Europe don't have thousands and thousands of babies and children who are orphaned because of AIDS and other disasters. The U.S. and Europe don't, for the most part, have many adoptable babies for the person who would like to adopt an infant and be able to raise him as her own.
In the U.S. and Europe babies who are "poor" may not necessarily be orphans. Often they have loving parents who just don't have much money. In the U.S. there are programs for children and families with children, so - let's get real - the U.S. doesn't have village upon village of orphanages of babies to be adopted!
As someone who has one adopted child, myself, and two biological children; I find it completely understandable that a person may like to have a couple of biological children but then offer a great childhood to a child "out there" who needs one. I'd love to adopt an infant tomorrow, but the only way I could do that would be to go to, say, China, to adopt one because the waiting lists are too long in the U.S.
There's a whole world full of poverty and sadness and children who don't have the basic necessities of life or mothers. Madonna is one person. She saw the horrors in Africa and said that anyone who goes there would want to do the same thing she is doing.
Madonna said her mother died when she was little. She grew up without a mother. She said she'd like to be the mother for some child who needs one. She can't be a mother to all the children in the world or in the U.S. or Europe. She went where there are babies dying of starvation and with flies around their heads, and she decided to give a nice childhood and love to one "little man" who needed her.
I don't understand why anyone would pick her apart for either adopting a child or giving one a childhood or choosing to adopt a child from a shockingly poverty-stricken village, no matter where that village is.
I can't help but wonder how much of their time and money and life and love many of the people who have criticized Madonna have given to children in need. When someone does have or can have biological children and adopts not because that's the only way they can get children but because they see a child and know they could give that child a good life it is a completely unselfish commitment to make.
Madonna's life was about having photos taken before she adopted this child, and it will be about having photos now that she has the child. As long as she's famous there will be photos. Believing that's the reason she adopted a little guy, though, isn't necessarily the most reasonable belief.

Adopting one or 2 little ones does not something to manage the authentic complications happening in impoverished international places. that is purely the celebs amassing little ones and feeling like saviors even as they're many times sidestepping the guidelines to receive those little ones. in my opinion, i might want to fairly stay in my personal us of a and lifestyle and language than stay my existence as a persons'' puppy. And wasn't Madonna funding the orphanage that Mercy replaced into residing in? If it replaced into such an undesirable position and he or she replaced into funding it, what does that say about Madonna?

Because sub-saharan african orphans seem to be COMPLETELY on their own - usually sleeping on the ground, infected with 30 different parasites, has goiter, etc. While poor children in the US or Europe are far from comfortable, they generally have their most basic, basic needs taken care of (they have clothes. even if they were from goodwill. they eat food, even if it's a can of campbells soup)
Or maybe they just want to be like Angelina Jolie.

Because the US and Europe have programmes to look after children in extreme need. Children die in Africa and the people and governments there are powerless to prevent it.

I personally think that in the US and Europe there is already an infrastructure that could potentially help those in our countries. However, in Africa, some countries are third world and completely underdeveloped. I assume that celebrities get more publicity holding a frail, deathly-thin child than one just dressed in dirty clothes in good ol America.

I dont think its that she cares more. I think for one, maybe she feels that America is such a rich country, it should be able to take better care of its orphans. And 2, the adoption process in america can take years, and celebrities tend to want what they want, when they want it. I personally would want an american baby, but if i had to wait 10 years to get a baby in america, and 1 year to get one from abroad. Id probably adopt internationally too.

Actually, she's adopting a Malay child. Malaysia is in Asia, not Africa. Also, learn proper grammar, and stop typing in all caps.
