i know of a french manicure where the tips are originally painted white/ivory then the rest of the nails has clear polish or nude/pale/pinkish polish that makes the nails look cleaner. i've also seen variants where in the tip is a different color from the rest of the nail. could this be the italian manicure i've heard about?

I think it's something with the type of tools they use. I don't know if it looks different from a typical (non-French) manicure.

well then an italian manicured is when the tip is painted with their flag color or as a mini flag itself.
