waterman pens that i use for work. i have made a point of using these types of pens at work rather than lousy bic pens since an mba class professor i had advised the class that using lousy pens makes a lousy impression. my wife told me i am a geek for having a leather pen case and nice pens. is it dorky?

I actually love the Parker pens. Is it geeky to have a case? Maybe a little. But so what? But to tell your class that using a lousy pen makes a bad impression may not have been necessary. Not many people would notice such a detail and the fact that you would does sound a bit on the dorky side. But rest assured, geeky can be hot. ;)

No it's classy. Believe it or not, many people do look at penmenship and that includes the overalll esthetic appeal. In case the MBA professor didn't tell you, black ink is always used in business, never blue. Colored inks are a sign of immaturity. The smaller your writing the more intelligent you are judged to be. Large handwriting and elaborate flourishes are seen as immaturity as well (think of the hearts young girls use to dot their letter "i".)
