so 1k =1000
so 1k*1000= 1million , 1,000,000mb
1kb is really equal to 1024bytes
and 1mb is the same 1024k

These are actually two different measures.

One is kilobips (used for data transmission) and the other megabytes (used for data storage).

The ps at the end of kbps means "per second" Fofor the conversion, we have to drop this, otherwise we are comparing speed versus volume.

However bips are not exactly exquivalent to *bits*

A it takes 9 bips to make a byte of data (it takes only 8 bits to make a byte though)
So 1/8 th of the bips are used to control the data.

So it takes 1/8th more of bips to make a byte, ok kilobite or even megabyte.

so 1024 * 1/8 = 128

and 1024 +128 = 1152

So it takes 1152 kbips to be the equivament of a kilobyte
and 1152 * 1024 = 1179648
So you need 1179648 bips to equal one megabyte of data.
