I have a Windows ME, 64MB desktop computer. The graphics system is currently run by the Intel 82810 graphics controller. I love to play pc games and want good graphics. What card should I get that will allow multitexturing and 3D, without costing me a kidney?

Or should I just put the money towards a new computer?

You've bought yourself a computer that can't have a "real" graphics card installed in it. The absolute best card you'll be able to use is one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCompare.asp?Category=38&Nty=1&N=2010380048+1069609642&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=48&CompareItemList=N82E16814103016%2CN82E16814129062

I personally wouldn't spend that much money on a PCI video card for a computer that's as outdated as yours, though. One of these is what I'd get for it, until I could afford to replace the entire computer: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCompare.asp?Category=38&N=2010380048+1069609642&Submit=ENE&Nty=1&SubCategory=48&CompareItemList=N82E16814102696%2CN82E16814241031%2CN82E16814131284%2CN82E16814161010%2CN82E16814129046

You'll also need an absolute minimum of 1GB of system RAM to be able to play any newer game, though. And 2GB is the new "norm" for gaming computers, although that's for faster systems, with much better video cards.

My dear mysticdre, do yourself a favor and go get a new PC instead of thawing your money on Windows ME. You could get a decent PC, these days for about $400.00 but if you want to play games you should look into a couple of thousand bucks. Also keep in mind that Microsoft no longer extends help/service for window ME. If you are not one of those gamer nuts, get a PC for about 800 to 1000 dollars with no less than 1 gigabyte RAM and it will let you play some of your games.

Sorry to say that most PC games today are not going to work well on equipment that old. ( old as pc's go ). Not everyone can go out and buy a new PC but you might look into purchasing a "newer" machine that could be upgraded. Upgrading a windows ME machine is not going to be worthwhile.

You can probably only use a PCI video card (I'm guessing you don't have an AGP slot). I would also highly suggest getting more RAM, 64MB is VERY VERY low. Check out TigerDirect for PCI video cards:
