Give Heather the gold star. I put mold in freezer for 10 minutes. Took it out, gave it a whack on open end on counter, nothing. Not not to give up, took a sharp knife and poked around inside between mold and candle. Whacked on counter again, Wa-la - it came out as far as the end of the mold. Now what, can't keep whaking. so just kinda shook it up and down. It slid right out. I was so shocked, was sure the freezing wouldn't help. But it did, I'm excited, and not afraid to use the mold again.

Heather, thank you so much.

Linda

The reason the freezing works and not the heating is because wax shrinks when frozen (unlike water that will actually expand upon freezing). the colder you freeze the wax the smaller it will get. If the container it is in shrinks less than the wax when frozen, the wax will pull away from the sides and be able to be removed. Unless you heat the wax and melt it around the edge, the wax will just expand and stick in tighter in the container.
