As long as you can support your animals, and you're not discarding "old" pets to take on"new" ones, I can't see that you're doing anything wrong. Some people just love animals, and caring for things in general- there's nothing abnormal or bad about that! Just be sure that you can properly care for any pets you take on, and that you can maintain all your responsibilities, and all is good.
If, however, you feel that you can't take on any more pets full-time at home, maybe you could look into volunteering at a rescue ir shelter? Many homeless animals in those settings need love even more than those with homes, and you can help so many more that way!

I had a tubal about 13 years ago. It never made me want to adopt animals, but I do get the urge to adopt every now and then. I have 4 adopted cats and sometimes I'd love to have a new kitten just because I love kittens and know there are so many who need homes. I don't think is due to your tubal. Are your kids grown? Why not volunteer at a shelter to be able to be around the animals without committing to adoption?

I didn't have a tubal ligation, but I'm like you. In fact I might have it worst, because I feel like buying or adopting a pet every 2-3 months. The reason why I love all kinds of pets is that they give you unconditional love.... and they make you feel needed. Except for dogs- most of them never whine. In fact I'm planning to go to the Humane Society today to see if I will fancy a kitten. The last one I had to give up, because my toddler wouldn't quit pulling its tail. He ended up having bite marks and scratches all over his arms. He was two years old back then. He is now going five. I think we are ready to get another one. We also have a button quail, a rabbit, two guinea pigs, a turtle and we used to have mice, finches and parakeets.

Your urge to nurture animals isn't weird, and I don't think it's an urge for you to have a baby. It's smart you realize it's an urge and not impulsively buy a new pet each time you go to the pet shop.
Why not:
- volunteer at your local Humane Assoc?
- volunteer for an independent dog, cat, or equine shelter?
- foster a pet for one of these organizations?
- raise young dogs for a Guide Dog program (fostering)
There are LOTS of animals who need your personal care & attention. You just need to find the right way you can express your caring feelings and get satisfaction from working with animals you don't own.

Yep, that's why I have three dogs. :-)
I didn't have a tubal but I did have secondary infertility after my son was born. Since then we've adopted two kids and four dogs (our old rottie died of cancer at age 11 in March).
I think the doctor is right - you're just a nurturing person. As long as you can afford and take care of your pets properly, I say, the more the merrier!

if you can care for them go for it. i get like that ALL THE TME but not over just any pet now, i want ferrets it is so close to being a horder it is scary but i have came up with a new way to ease the urge i'm in the process of fostering. for me ferretsarein need of more help, so many people help cats and dogs and such but not many people help ferrets. so if you can't adopt any more think about fostering. to find out more info just go to your local shelter and ask them how you can foster.

I don't have children by choice & at one time I had 3 big dogs & 2 cats. I think it just means you like pets! As long as you can care for their needs physically (food, clean fenced yard, crates, treats, toys, grooming needs, vaccinations & vet care) and emotionally (time to spend with each one: playing, walking, etc), and your neighbors & city ordinances are ok with it, I don't think it's a problem!

I get that to. It's like baby fever. I haven't had my tubes tied though and I don't think there is any correlation to that. You just want to help something.
