I want to wash some woollen jumpers. last time I made the mistake of washing them in my front loader with the recommended amount of wool wash but it leaked and bubbled all over the floor. duh!

Next time should I?
a) Wash in the machine with 'normal' front loader powder?
b) Wash using the wool wash but with a small amount
c) Do I really have to handwash with wool wash in a bucket???

How do YOU wash your woolens if you own a front loader.

Thanks

I use ordinary powder but on a 30deg. wash with a short spin. A wool wash is often 40degs & may shrink your woolies! Hand washing is for people who have nothing better to do!

Washing Woollens

If your woolies are valuable to you, wash them by hand sunshine! There are just too many variables in machines and their cycles. Put the woolies in warm soapy water in the morning and swish them about in the evening. Rincse them. No need to scrub and rub.

Gently squeeze without wringing (which smashes the fibers together and is the cause of shrinkage) and pat with towels to get the water out, (It is often the spin cycle that is the culprit in wool clothing getting matted and ugly.) Then dry flat on a table top or other flat surface.

Good quality woolies will last for years. It is a shame to ruin some clothes 'cos you are too time-crunched to hand wash them.
