Hi

I am 7 weeks pregnant and am trying to eat a balanced healthy diet, although this is hard due to sickness! I really fancy chips and half a bit of fish with my husband tonight. I have not had this for over a month, do you think it will do me any harm? I had a packet of crisps today too?

Lets put this into perspective... there is all this hype about what you can eat and what you cant eat while pregnant...

So I ask you - what to people living in fishing villages whose diet is orientated around all things seafoodish when they are pregnant?

My wife is 7 months pregnant with baby number 2 and she eats whatever she wants whenever she wants. When she was pregnant with number 1 we went to the fishmarkets in Sydney every week and ate alot of Salmon and Tuna sashimi as well as Prawns, Oysters and crab. Pleased to report that both No 1 and wife are extremely healthy and happy.

I say eat what you feel like and dont stress too much - stress levels are more likely to harm your baby than half a piece of fish now and then!

Congratulations on the pregnancy and I wish you all the best in the coming months.

fill your boots love!! I had fish and chips on friday and loved it! im 12 weeks. u do have to eat a healthy diet but no need to obssess about it! Just think about all those people who can't eat what they should thro morning sickness. as long as u take your vits and eat well most of the time, a treat here and there won't hurt. Enjoy

Moderation is the key here. You may find that you won't be able to eat much especially since fish and chips are pretty greasy. Just don't eat much of this type of thing during your pregnancy but from time to time it will be fine.

You should be fine. The Dr's urge you to not eat too much warm water fish (Tuna, etc) when you're pregnant because those types of fish can contain more mercury than cold water/ fresh water fish. I believe they say that 6 oz of fish each week is OK. Just don't overdo it!

Sure go for it , Both times i was pregnant My doc told me to Limit my Fish to Once per month. that way the Mercury does not build up an you dont have too much in your body. Everything in Moderation is Fine !!

some fish you should limit to once a week. Like tuna. It has it's advantages too.

Go ahead, enjoy it! If you have morning sickness it will be hard to keep anything satisfying down. But if you have a craving go ahead.

Should be just fine!
You can eat almost anything you want in moderation.
