not speaking from experience but from observation, my husband over the years has noticed for him that not using a hand held razor/creme has worked best. He uses a Braun electric shaver and shaves dry before showering or working out and doesn't try to shave too closely on his neck. If it's really humid or warm he sometimes uses powder on his neck area (small amount). He finds that the closeness of the shave is the factor in ingrown hairs. I also make him an aftershave toner from a little alcohol, witch hazel, some calendula extract and a little lavender and rosewater/glycerin. His ingrown hairs have diminished quite a bit. Good luck!!

What I do is shave with a disposable razor for sensitive skin. I shave Right after I shower at night before I go to sleep. This seems to slow down the hair growth. Also after shaving rinse you face with Cold water this will cause the pores around the hair follicle to shrink and not let as much oil in. Make sure your razor is sharp, don't use a dull razor.

exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate.

one would think that shaving daily is enough, but it really isn't.

i'd suggest buying a loufa (sp.??) mit at walgreens or any old drug store, use it at least once or twice a week with whatever soap you use. probably best to use at night, and shave in the morning...
