The amount of sleep needed varies from person and from time to time in that person's life. When my kids were small I spent years in a permanent state of exhaustion, and 8 hours a night was not nearly enough for me. now I'm middle aged, work full time, go to college at night, and get by on about 5 hours a night.! Occasionally, this will catch up on me, and i will get a migraine, and sleep for maybe 6 or 7 hours and then I'm fine for another few weeks!

Margaret Thatcher used to sleep only four hours a night.
Woody Allen in Bananas said:"If i don't get 14 hours, I'm a basket case"
Split the difference and go for 9.

I know this because I've heard it on a TV show. Albert Einstein said humans need 10 hours to sleep in order to get enough energy for the day. Believe me not any other fake answers. TRUST ME!
