I'm job hunting and was wondering what fellow unemployed people do to entertain themselves during weekdays.. I'm limiting it to free activities, because frankly I can't afford to really go out and hang with buddies; good old credit card bills are still being sent my way, etc.. I look forward to reading your suggestions..

I work sporatically, not very many hours and sometimes not at all for a week or two or sometimes longer.

This is what you can do: Go to the Library and look at the new book shelf, there are always interesting books there (I like non-fiction) or read the magazines, take a walk in a park or just go sit there for 45 minutes (even in the Fall or Winter, I just have bundled up with my long underwear and coat and hat), if you have access to a computer which you must if you are on here, surf and research things you are interested in or answer these questions, watch tv, cook meals at home that you wouldn't otherwise have time to do, read, work a garden, sleep in in the mornings, and if you have a dog, go take him/her for a walk.

I also go to things my nephew participates in and I teach 4-H sewing (these are mostly free for me and help keep me balanced). Going to church can also help or belonging to a weekly church study group.

Your public library can be a good source of books and DVD's that you can enjoy when you need a breather from the job search routine. Hiking some picturesque trails around where you live can be good for the psyche. Volunteering at elementary schools or senior citizen centers can be a way to feel useful and productive.

Try entering online quizzes/competitions. I spent a month on Loquax.co.uk and won something for my troubles.

Try sketchswap.com - share pictures with people

www.racingfrogs.org - great site to pass a few minutes away and you can even talk to your frog.
