Then don't wear one until you are ready. I wouldn't swim if my period was really heavy but if light (first or last days of period) then just swim without one but after you get out you'll need to go and put a pad on. The pressure in the water keeps you from bleeding.

If you are having your period, and you plan on swimming you should use a tampon. It won't affect you in any way, the thing it will do is make sure you dont' bleed in the water. Please say you are not swimming in a pool...............If you are going to swim in a pool and do not wish to use a tampon, don't swim at all. Blood will get into the water and that is not sanitary. Not to mention it's gross to see blood in the water. pads are not good to use as they will let blood seep out into the water. Good luck

O.k. sweety,ya have to put tampon in if you want to swim!Pads will fall apart! Now,when you buy some if never used,They have all different sizes,You want thin, and light flow ones,Their real skinny and they do not hurt when you put in!If you never used,i think sitting on toilet will make it easeir for you and derections are on back box!You just gently push up on end of applercater and it will slide into place and there,s a string that hangs out so when its time to take out,sit on toilet and pull on string and it will come right out!Beleave me,its not as werd as it sounds and very easy!Good Luck,Hollywood

NO, you need to wear one if you're going swimming.
They have instructions on the back of the box. Ask your Mom or another trusted female to help you out.
You'll probably prefer tampons once you start using them.

Why not use it? Either way Im not sure why this is but you will not bleed while soaked. So in the pool/bathtub you dont need protection but when you get out, head for the bathroom.
