the heads up light works but the 2 brake lamps dont. All other lights work, and no fuses blown and the filament doesnt appear to be damaged. Could it still be the bulbs?

If both brake lights don't work, does the third center brake light go on (the one inside the back window?)

If all 3 brake lights don't work, then it's more likely to be the brake light switch.

There's a switch you can find by simply following the brake pedal up. (You may have to remove the panel underneath) Follow the bar up to where it sticks out the firewall. About mid way, you should see a switch that is depressed when the brake pedal is at rest, and open when your foot pushes down on the brake pedal. It's likely that this switch is either bad, or not sending the signal appropriately because is poorly adjusted.

If your center brake light does come on then it's likely that your bulbs have just burned out the fillament for the brake light. If you look at a brake light, there is typically 2 fillaments inside the light. (it's sort of like a 3 way house light bulb). One fillament is used when you just have your lights on. Both fillaments are used when you step on you brake.
It's possible that the fillament that is used to light up when you step on the brake has burned out in both bulbs.

If the brake turnsignal bulb are good replace the brake light switch. Does the four way flashers light the same bulb? or do you own a foreign car? It really helps mechanics to know what we are working on. Make model year and miles.

Yes, theses are not house bulbs. They can burn out even when the filament is intact. Bulbs are like a dollar. Try that and if it doesn't work, oh well.

If both went out at the same time, it is a wiring problem.
Somewhere it is grounding out.
Did you just put in new speakers/stereo or mess with the trunk area?
