I went to the gyno today to get a lump in my breast checked out....I am 25...had a baby Feb.2006...breast fed for 3 months....anyway...if I sqeezed my armpit...I had a clear fluid that was sticky come out...also around my areola...only when sqeezed....he didn't say anything to me accept that I was getting a mammogram...lab work for prolactin (milk)....TSH....and galactorrhea which I think is the pituitary glands...my question is...that my mammogram isn't scheduled until December 18...if he thought that it was cancer...wouldn't it be sooner...more than later....what do you think is going on? He really didn't tell me anything?

Your milk hasn't completely dried up yet.....that's all the fluid is.
If he thought this was serious he would have you in quickly.

My guess is that's how long the waiting list is at your local hospital for a mamogram - you could either go to a private clinic (if you can afford it) or ask him if an ultrasound would tell you anything. Also, you could ask to be put on a list for a cancelled appointment if you have a flexible scheduule and could go on short notice. Sometimes its a good idea to get a second opinion.

Good luck.

you can always go get a second opinion if you don't feel comfortable with your doctors answer or lack there of....you don't necessarily have to go to another gyno you could just go see your family doctor they tend to give you more attention than you gyno does since they see the same thing day in and day out and they are pretty much numb to everything including your concerns.....

if he was really concerned, he would have had you get emergency tests done. also, on the slim chance that it is cancer, a month isn't going to make a huge difference. plus, it always takes a while to get in for a mammogram. best of luck to you.

if you're not comfortable with that, see if you can get in with another doctor for a second opinion. If it's nothing, that's great... but if it's something, you'll be happy you didn't wait.

Hope it's just "nothing"!
