being in a new place shouldn't mean changing yourself. i moved around a lot when i was younger, so the first thing i would do is check for activities in the area that i was interested in. music venues, art attractions, book clubs, whatever you are already interested in. go and visit. there you are more likely to meet new people, who share some of you're interests and have something in common with. it's easier to make new friends when you already know some common ground you share. i think this will help your confidence too.
i know settling in a new place is hard, but give it time, it will get a little easier as time goes by. Good luck, and feel free to contact me through Yahoo 360.

I don't know how old you are but, how about a part time job. Something where you will get to see people in the neighborhood and interact with them, even if it is as a job. This will help your shyness, help you earn a little money and people will begin to recognize you. You will feel better if you get out there in your community and meet people. Good Luck!

If u have adapted to various things/subjets/matters earlier in your life it would certainly help u a lot for the simple reason adjustment is purely a mental adjustment as much as physical. We do make adjustments in our day to day life..........aren't v?
