Sounds like "rusty pipe syndrome."

This happens sometimes, usually with a first time mom. Your breasts have been growing and changing to prepare to breastfeed. Rusty pipe syndrome may result from vascular engorgement of the breast. As your milk-producing glands go through this period of rapid development, and the blood flow increases to your breasts, there may sometimes be internal bleeding. It's usually not painful and will usually resolve itself within a week. If it does not, call your caregiver.

Has happened. It may just be an irritation. if it has stopped and it is not red and tender then i would just keep and eye on it and not worry. tyr some neosprin to keep the germs away just in case. Good luck. Call your doc as soon as possible to make sure it isnt anything to worry about.

I don't know any friends who experienced this during pregnancy, but here are a few helpful sites...As a side note, I would DEFINITELY consider changing to a doctor that is available for emergencies...it's expected during pregnancies!

Spontaneous discharge of fluid or blood from a nipple is a concern, except during pregnancy and breast-feeding. This type of discharge occurs without pressing or stimulating the nipple. Galactorrhea is one type of spontaneous nipple discharge and may be a side effect of a medication or caused by a noncancerous tumor in the pituitary gland (pituitary adenoma), decreased thyroid function (hypothyroidism), or certain types of cancer.

Call your doctor if you have spontaneous nipple discharge or a discharge from only one nipple (unilateral) or that looks like blood.
