I live and work in Washington, DC. We have, understandably, a skewed vision of the world and its priorities. I want to hear what you believe to be the most significant issues facing America today. Thanks.

I think number one is healthcare. followed closely by the war in Iraq, illegal aliens, education, security (in no certain order), then corporate payouts.

1. The family unit is disappearing -Less and less kids are growing up in stable homes, which can cause major problems 2. The collective work ethic is going down -people are beginning to feel entitled to stuff without working -people don't stop complaining 3. The government is spending money in the wrong areas -welfare gets hundreds of billions of dollars, as does defense, while infrastructure and science suffer 4. The media -While this isn't a major problem in and of itself, the things that the media shows can prompt others to do things 5. Our government supports the poor -this relates to 1 and 2. While i feel for poor people to a point, more often than not it's their fault that they're in such a situation. Despite what people say, working hard in America, while it won't make you a rich CEO, will provide you with a good life. It is very likely that a good portion of welfare money goes to people who use it on drugs or just the wrong stuff in general. The government is basically saying "stay home, don't bother contributing to society, but here's free money"

My personal priorities are:
1. Poverty (the fact that the middle class is dissapearing) - How is it possible that someone who works 40 hours a week of hard labor is still living in poverty?
2. Racism - Something that is very valid in this society but is constantly ignored.
3. Education - Why is it that our teachers are so poorly trained and paid? Why are our school systems so flawed in most cities?
4. Health - Our health system is very flawed. Not very accessible for those who can't afford basic coverage.
5. Discrimination - I feel that in America one should be able to be who they are free of social prosecution. Race, gender, sexual orientation, class, etc.

The economy stupid "quoting Clinton"

Education reform, make it harder to be a teacher,

Crime we have much of it and it goes unnoticed,

make working for the Government a worth while job "you get what you pay for"

Stopping immorality that has become rampant in the USA, before we fall.

HEALTHCARE (how does America deal with increasing health care costs and the aging of its citizens)
EMPLOYMENT (how does America compete in an ever growing international community?)
