I've never heard the Judas story. But Dracula was a real person. His name was Vlad Dracul, a count and later prince in Romania. His army was fighting off the Ottomans (Turks) trying to invade Eastern Europe. Whenever an Ottoman warrior was caught, he would have them impaled on a stake and would watch them die painful, long deaths...sometimes while eating his dinner. Eventually, Dracul was captured and beheaded...his head sent back to Turkey to show the Sultan that he was dead.
Elizabeth of Bathory is another true story...a mass murderer who killed something like 600 virgins to bathe in their blood and stay young. She was eventually caught and locked up in her castle forever.
Between the two, as well as other stories, Bram Stoker developed his monster who he named Dracula.

The author of the book Dracula, based his character on the 15 century prince of Wallachia (now part of Romania) Vlad Tepes(the impaler) 1431-1476. His surname was Draculea or more commonly know Dracula ( he actually signed documents with this surname). The name means son of the dragon or son of the devil. It originated because his father, was of the order of the Dragon and was know (surname again) as Dracul (dragon). So Vlad signed as son of the Dragon (Dracula). He was never a vampire but he was just as nasty anyway.

Vlad Tepes was a real person. Nothing to do with the vampires stories. But he was highly intelligent and understood what his image can do for him and he presented himself even scarier than he was. It's true, he impaled people, but some of the gestures that created his devilish image were only meant to scare his enemies (for example, he burned a Bible in public, but he was Christian and fought for Christianity). So no, I don't believe Dracula, as the vampire portrayed by Bram Stocker, was Vlad Tepes (even if, in my heart of hearts, I wish he was).

Vlad Dracul was a real person. He slew thousands of people by impaling them on stakes. He was from Romania. AFter his death, superstitous people merged folklore about blood sucking zombies rising from the grave with the Dracul legend, and Dracula was created.

There were stories about vampires long before Dracular and Dracul ever came into existence. Some of these vampire stories pre-dates makind ability to write. So in truth the history of vampires have been lost in time and space. So was Dracular a real person yes. Was he a true vampire no.

I reckon Dracula was not even the man's name. I think he was just an ill middle-aged man, who was bedridden, and couldnt get enough nourishment. And the towns people back in the day got the heebejeebies seeing his gaunt corpse-like body and face so they stayed away from him and made up this remarkable tale about Count Dracula, the Vampire!! Oooooo.......
