It really depends on where that question is asked.

It is not fear, but responsibility.

In the East – India, Malaysia and other Asian countries. Marriage there is considered sacred as part of religion – and Men actually look forward to getting married due to deep religious sentiments, and usually marries at a younger age after a short courtship or through family arranged marriages. In these societies a married man is considered to be more responsible than a bachelor.

In the West – U.S.A, U.K, Germany and other European countries. Due to secularism and absence of deep rooted religious adherence, marriage is not sacred and long courtships and in the age of live-in lovers has given way to freedom of association in a relationship, thereby creating a chauvinist mentality in the males due to the absence of pressure largely contributes to the lack of responsibility in the western male as far as the pursuit of marriage is concerned.

They all are afraid to get married because they have had bad relationships in the past. Maybe his parents had a bad relationship. My husband doesn't trust women at all. He has been married 3 times. His past wives cheated on him. It took me forever to get him to trust me. His nephew is the same way. He was married and his wife cheated. Now he thinks all women are hoes. Guess they think if they commit themselves to a relationship they can't just walk away and that scares the hell out of them

They aren't and they don't. What class of men do you know? Most of the men I know wish marriage, but only with women like themselves. You must still be a child, uneducated, or have some personality defects or nothing to offer in the way of intelligence, or wife material. Or, the guys you date, are children, and are not yet ready to be husbands..... all the men I date, do indeed want a relationship, and marriage....

Because women forget that marriage is a 2 way street and that it takes compromise, compassion, understanding and love to make it work.

And the media, meaning tv, movies, music, etc show marriage to be a bad thing, instead of the wonderful union that it is.

some of them have a commitment thing--they cant. And I think you have your answer in your question. They think their life will be over--this goes back to what they think they will miss instead of what they are gaining. And not wanting to be tied down to one person. These types are deffinately not ready for anything permanent
