You are so right.
The one that bothers me is Common Sense. It is so lacking. I see some people that have none and some that have little. I would say that it is the way we are raised but I am not sure that is true. I pretty much raised myself as my mother was in constant self-aborbsion and pity for herself and did not know how to raise 4 kids. But I always had common sense, the times I got myself into trouble was when I ignored it.
The ethics and morals are learned from a very young age. A child does not know what it right and wrong unless they are told and have a chance to experience it first hand. Our parents pass down there morals too us or we can pick them up from school or church.
This country is on a long hard road to Darkness. Many things have led us astray:
Greed
Apathy
Lack of love
Lack of forgiveness
Lack of patience
Lack of understanding
Lack of wisdom
Lack of Parents being with their children
Too much high technology
Not enough freedom (free time)
No tolerance or compassion
And the list can go on.

How do we change these things? We look at ourselves first then we can change our familites, community and country.

Did this country ever have these? Just read the history books. We had slavery. Look at how we treated the Native Americans and others. What do you mean by morals? Example if you are talking about sexual morals. I'd have to ask why there mixed blood births born during slavery? I could go on.

Laziness! We just continue to lower the bar with each passing day. We're too infatuated with celebrity status (watching or being) to be concerned about such things as ethics and common sense. Wonder why we (as a society) can't generate the kind of revenue to take care of ourselves (charities) that we generate in professional sports (entertainment)...oh no, we'll have none of that now!

They left as the cost of living went up. Workign two jobs, meant less personal time to develope family and values. Kids more often have to figure out things for themselves now. ie more teen pregnancy, crime among teens, gangs rise in popularity, etc. Progress has been the trade off for morals in my opinion.

Look to the Amish communities. There you will see ethics and morals and love and caring and compassion, and support and helping and thriving and common sense. I think our world is so fast pace people dont care any more...

I think "it" started when we went off gold backed money and IRS got going. Then more income was wanted by the BANKERS/controllers, so women had to go to work and children had no mothers stabilizing influence......that coupled with the push to make spiritual growth a dumb thing.
Oh yes, and the head shrinkers became the "experts" telling us we are stimulus response animals.
Yep, that's very simplistic....but, no less real to me.
