I'm really disturbed by the inaccuracy of some of the other answers here. The sperm meets the egg in the fallopian tube and the fertilized egg travels down the tube into the uterus where it implants. On average, this takes 7-10 days but 5-12 is also normal. The period of 2 weeks after ovulation but before implantation (and therefore before there's hCG pregnancy hormone that would result in a positive pregnancy test) is called the two week wait because it's when we all go nuts. There's nothing to do but wait it out.

So, the short answer is, about a week to a week and a half. It can take a couple of days after that for your body to produce enough hCG to show up on a home pregnancy test. Look for more sensitive ones (that will detect 25 units) so they're more likely to give you a positive sooner.

Good luck!

3-5 days, the fertalized ovum must travel down the fallopian tube to the uterus to implant. It grows at it goes, until it reaches the uterine lining and implants itself, which starts the production of HCG hormones. These hormones peek when you're ready for your period (about a week after implantation), stopping menstration and causing a positive pregnancy test result.
