Sometimes it's just bad karma or the path that person has chosen. These things happen to good people as well because we all need to learn about life.

I read questions like this and a million things come to my mind. God has given us free will to make our own choices in life. The one that killed this teenaged boy made the choice to take a life and now he must live with the consequences. But then I see your question, too. Where was God's protection for this boy? Why was this allowed to happen? I believe that there are things in this life that are allowed to happen for very specific reasons. Some reasons will be revealed to us and others we will never have answers to until we cross over at our own time of death. I wish I had some wiser words to offer but this is the path that my thoughts went down.

Will the hands of god alter the path of that planet killing asteroid bearing down on us? Do the tectonic plates obey god when they collide into each other causing untold death and calamity? Did Jehova lift a finger (or rock he could not move) to stop the incineration of his Chosen People during the Holocaust? What protection does he provide...oh, i forgot, he work's in mysterious ways and we're too small to know the "Big" plan for us and the Universe.
And what about the predation, disease, parasites, deformities, child rape, and all the other evil in the world...was that intelligent design? Let's don't bring up the 15 or so hominids that are extinct, we must be the new and improved models.
Give me a break.

God has given us free will. This that our actions and others actions are beyond his control. Not because he is not powerful enoguh to any thing about it. Because he choices not to. This dose not mean that he won't protect us. He loves us, and so he wants what is best for us. The more we remain in his will, and grow closer to him the more we will see God maifest in your life. I garentee you. Miracles still happen everday. I would say that unless I have see them. At the same time you have to look at the apostles. They lead some of the worse lives. Beaten, stoned, shuned, and if not all the most were murdered. Yet though it all, even murder they gave glory to God. God's will is not always what we think is best for us. He can however give us what ever we need to live a good life regardless.

If you buy into the concept of God, how is he not protecting the boy? If he is allowing an innocent boy to die, he is only allowing this boy to go to heaven that much earlier and actually protecting from the harshness of the world, as he would now be in eternal bliss. You may now ask why he doesn't protect the rest of us the same way. COME ON GOD LET'S GET THIS RAPTURE THANG GOIN.

How do you define God?
If you have not noticed by now, nobody gives you something because you really really want it. Neither do you not die, because you realy really do not want to die. Neither do you walk on water, because you really really want to walk on water.
Things are random and sometimes coincidences pile up in a certain direction to create a "wave," which consequently then turns into temprorary "fate"...due to pre-conditions in the situation. Mostly, its just causes and effects (forces) that interact in a very large arena and have no restrain when they cause some effect that humans might not desire; Nature does not bow or is suceptible to the sensibilities of man.
However, this inner cry from whithin our soul for justice, is what you could call 'God'---however, there is no inherent force in the physical realm that will protect you from harm, except good judgement in the endevours of your daily life and goodwill toward others.

It is actually a very difficult question. I do believe in the Divine Order and I do believe that God has a plan for each one of us, that he and his Angels protect and guide us IF we allows them -here the free will plays his role. So, I think it was his time. That does not means that the work of that boy has finish on Earth. Here we are, having a profound discussion because of him. I am sure that he has touched many lives and will continue to do so.

God isn't a literal shield of protection to us, as I'm sure you know. His protection of us is mainly our knowing that what will be done is in his most ultimate plan. We can not rely on him for every part of our lives. His way of protecting us comes from working through us or others. Those who fear and respect him will try their hardest to please him by doing kind works, helping those in need or doing all they can to right a wrong. God can't always be there for us, unless we let him.

By showing us the evils of the world...giving us stamina...anger...rage...the ability to get up and fight. By showing us evil , He is creating good. And now ure thinking- anger, rage...how is that good? Anger and rage are never to be underestimated. They are great emotions- capable of great things. Great evil and good things... God gave us them so when we see an innocent teenage boy getting murdered, we get pissed. We stand up. We fight.
