I am sure I have read some where that as to not offend people, that the Christmas trees are to be called Winter trees. Or something along those lines, anyway.
I am outraged at this. I think most politicians, media and certain people are taking the situation in UK (terror attacks etc) a bit out of hand. PC has gone absolutely crazy!!
It has always been CHRISTMAS TREES!! And CHRISTMAS trees it should remain.
Just to let you know I was brought up as a Muslim. Myself and my siblings all grew up with Christmas around, we all sent Christmas cards to our friends. My parents sent Xmas cards to their friends.
We had Christmas decorations up every year.
Now I have a daughter and I also want her to grow up embracing Christmas.
I just think it is ridiculous. Just by saying Xmas, Diwali Hanukah, or any other religous occasion or by taking part in different religous occasions does not make you any less a person.
But leaves you broad minded and acceptant of others.
What do others think

I agree. If one take parts in other people religious occasions, that will bring people together, not separate them apart. We should respect others holiday, all of us. It has been CHRISTMAS TREE, and that it should remain. It is not winter tree, or festival of light or whatever it is CHRISTMAS.
Thank YOU.
Here is a little tidbit for those who don't know. Do you know that some Muslims in Jordan put up a tree with the half moon on top with lights all around on their holiday , just like the Christians put up the Christmas tree at Christmas! I wonder why do that do that!?

I have a varied and wonderful (and sometimes kooky) circle of friends. So among us, we have a few Christmas trees, A Solstice tree, a Jewish bush, and an atheist shrub! They are all decorated much in the same fashion, and thoroughly enjoyed.
As far as "saying" Hanukkah is concerned, well, the Jewish religion is older and every bit as valid as the Christian. And almost all the rituals associated with religion, and Christmas, in particular, came from much older pagan celebrations.
So call the tree what you will, enjoy the "season" in whatever way brings meaning and happiness to you!

what next really the silly things they come up with is very pathetic i think Christmas tree is a traditional name that has been used all around the world in many languages for many centuries and it should stay that way because without the name Christmas tree what would the meaning Christmas mean with the name winter tree instead of the warmth of the name Christmas tree that spreads in our home on the faces of the and golden light across the room but instead the name winter tree will spread coldness in our home and dullness it will remind us that winter is still out side and it is not Christmas
so in other words yes i agree with you

of course its a christmas tree! there is no way on earth i am calling it a winter tree! whats next if they are starting to de-religion everything (even though i not religious at all) they will prob create odd names and occasions for the other festive relgions. i agree with the other posts if you dont like it dont look if your another religion and you dont celebrate christmas your kids still get time off from schooL!

They don't want the 90% that do celebrate Christmas to offend the 10% that don't. Alot of businesses didn't say Christmas last year in any of their ads or products, but this year is different.

Britain has gone too far in its political correctness. We need to make a stand, yes I want Christmas Trees, shops to celebrate Christmas, stamps that can put Jesus on them. To many of these self-important people are bothered we are offending other religions. What about the offence they are causing ordinary Christian people? Yes we do need to be tolerant, but if I went to live in another country I would live by their laws, customs and beliefs and not expect them to cater to me for fear of upsetting me. Stand up and voice your feelings.

Yes Christmas every time! We're told that we can't say Christmas because offending anyone so it's good to hear what others have to say, especially Muslims as it is them we are told we are offending.
Well done Vino for speaking up!
Happy Christmas :)

I completely agree. Also if they wanted to be completely "politically Correct" all trees would have to be hung from the ceiling and called "German trees"because the tradition of decorating trees came from Germany
