Because we have had to change our ways b/c of atheists - Can't say the pledge of allegiance - can't recognize Christmas in certain stores - for goodness sake you can't even say Merry Christmas to anyone - our country was based on Christian values. If you don't like the Pledge - don't say it - but don't make us take it out of the schools - which it has been in for so long.
I don't care if you believe in God or not - yes, America is free, but lets not forget our roots and the majority of religion here (yes, christianity is still the majority). I guarantee if you went to Saudi Arabia - they would not let you throw the Koran out of the school or pretty much any other country for that matter.

In my opinion it's the other way around from all I've heard and seen. I mean nobody is trying to force religion on non believers but they sure will bad mouth Christianity calling people names and saying we are all wacked out and stuff and this is a fact!

Because many people of many religions think that their way of thinking is the only correct one. There is no room in their belief system for the concept that they may be wrong, and must convert all other people to their way of thinking. But there's one thing that many of them have never thought of :
WHAT IF EVERYONE IS RIGHT, THERE IS NO WRONG RELIGION, AND ALL GODS ARE MERELY FACES OF A SINGLE SUPREME BEING, WHO CANNOT EVEN BE LABELED AS A GOD?
All of you - christians, satanists, muslims, hindus, pagans, wiccans, ALL OF YOU - try wrapping your little pathetic closed minds around THAT concept and see how much your self made little worlds crumble.....

Because Christians - at least, the ones who do that - are unChristlike and hate anyone who doesn't agree with their religious rantings. They can't seem to grasp the concept that just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean that they're out to rape your dog, kill your kids and destroy your way of life. :P
And it's not just atheists that get it, it's anyone who says "I have my own beliefs and they don't involve a sky-daddy with multiple personality disorder." Atheists are just the ones most likely to jump up and start yelling back at them.

The way I feel is that everyone has their own beliefs, and more power to them. I would never try to force anything (religion or otherwise) onto someone else; just like I would like to think they wouldn't try to force it on me.
So, I agree with you that we should all just realize that everyone has their own beliefs and such, and we should all accept that and get along.♥

you should bear in innovations that there is a lot at stake right here. If atheists are good, there is not any judgment, no hereafter, & no result to their strikes right here on earth. that's crucial that they unfold their message so they don't experience on my own, & can vent their anger at somebody & experience greater proper. Christians, on the different hand, comprehend there's a hereafter, & a judgment to come back. some are overbearing in the way they present day their perspectives, partly out of a desire to strike back at people who attempt to lead them to experience ignorant & inferior, & partly because of the fact they have forgotten God's call ,to love everybody. people who're performing in love are regularly positioned down & made exciting of. this does not help them of their earnest desire to love people into the dominion. after all, one shouldn't forget that we Christians experience an obligation to objective to maintain people from themselves & from hellfire. that's like understanding a flood or an earthquake is coming, yet no person will hear. we could decide to maintain them, yet they don't have faith they desire saving. As for different religions, i won't be able to talk definitively to their motives, yet i could think of they are lots comparable to Christianity. some, i comprehend, have faith that any one who does not have faith as they do have forfeited their good to stay. that's a marginally extreme reaction, one problematic to have faith a rational God could consider. so which you notice, this is not a depend of "you have faith the way you like, & i will have faith the way i desire.". there is too lots at stake for each occasion to in basic terms get alongside. it could be nicer if shall we do it in a deferential, honest, & loving way, nevertheless.

Christianity has a militant side to it, not just Christianity but all religions. Christians are told that it's their duty to "witness" to everyone, which means they think they have a personal responsibility to convert you.

Well when I die and go to heaven or hell it would have nothing to do with anyone else or their chosen religon. I'm the only one who has to account for my actions (right or wrong). So people can choose to be or to live however they want because it won't effect me in the end

Because they feel it is their "duty" to convert us all. Yesterday some Christians were passing out fliers at the park, I said no thanks, that I was an atheist, and they looked like I slapped them! Then they proceeded to follow me. My hubby had to tell them to step off!

I agree. I'm a christian....and i spread the word whenever i am able to. However, God gives us a choice to decide if we want to follow him or follow Satan. Luckily, we have a choice, and I cannot make anyone do anything that they don't want to do.
