I just have a question- I've already had my baby, And she was born perfectly healthy..BUT...My labor started with me coughing and blood coming out..And then I lost a blood clot the size of a baseball before getting to the Birthing Center...I was wondering if anyone else has ever done this? Or if maybe there's a nurse or someone in the medical profession that could explain what happened? I continued to bleed up until I had her, I also continued passing rather large blood clots..?!?!?

I WAS AT THE HOSPITAL WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF PASSING THE BLOOD CLOT AND BLEEDING ON THE 9TH....I HAD HER THE 9TH...THE DOCTORS WERE INFORMED, THEY KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON...

I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM WHEN LABOR STARTED!!!

Lol- I was passing blood clots vaginally...I coughed and that brought on the first one.

Thank you SO much for being the first to answer my question (And actually understand what I was asking, Lol)

Coughing up blood clots? or passing them vaginally. If vaginally it is sometimes just a normal thing with preganancy. You may have had the placent lifting a little from the wall of your uterus. If baby is fine, and you arent having anything more than a major period flow. then your okay. If you are bleeding more that i would say 3 pads an hour see a doc. but clots are just fine to pass, better if they are darker and paler though that bright red ones. If in doubt call your doc. Good luck!!! and congrats on your new little girl!1

if you are still passing clots you need to let the doctor know now, that's now good, I hemmoraged just after birth to my first baby, and luckily back then they gave you these pills to take if you started bleeding too much, but either way it's not good and you need to be looked at.

I had bleeding as the start of my labor with both of my pregancies.
