Why do ladies wear dark hose rather than lighter hose or bare legs? It seems to be a growing trend that I don't understand. Lighter hose highlights a woman's legs without showing how pale her skin is. Why bother with the darker hose?

Black hose means they either didn't want to or didn't have time to shave their legs.

Black hose adds a touch of elegance, are very flattering / slimming on a lot of women, and it is fashionable

Black is simply a classy look. There's a time and a place and a mood for everything. Nude/light look good in their own right, but sometimes black just sets off an outfit and makes it look less like something you'd wear to work, and more like something you'd wear out.
Why bother? Because it looks good...there are more opinions on what looks good out there than just yours.

Black hose generally are for old ladies...the colored tights trend is coming in this season but generally it looks tacky and I stay away from it.
