i think the world's becoming a smaller and smaller place, don't you?

back in the day of our ancestor's fighting alongside alexander the great, the whole world was what is now a few countries.

society enjoys being divided into smaller and more specific groups. look at the united states. the rest of the world sees us as just "america" yet, we see ourselves as denizens of any of 50 states, some divide even further by county

technology has changed how the inhabitants of the world view the rest of the world as a whole, supersonic travel, telecommunications...it's almost as if the world is literally becoming smaller and smaller

while i think of a single leader is a realistic idea, i don't think it's practical. even if that leader was a benevolent dictator, those after him won't be as so

now if that benevolent dictator were somehow immortal and wouldn't age, then i can see how that would be a good thing for the world

a hypothetical answer for a hypothetical question :)
