You need a very hot torch and a ceramic crucible--you also need some knowledge of casting to be able to do anything with it. Please don't try this at home--bad things can happen when you play with molten metal.

It takes a lot of heat to melt gold. I used to watch my friend's father do it, his hobby was making gold rings etc. He would use a torch.
