with an insight in history comment why men have been willing to die for freedom? concentrate on why and give examples from freedom movements in history that is the reason for thier action is needed not merely accounts of incidents of men fighting and dying for freedom.

Unfortunately, the majority of people that have died for freedom were forced or drafted into service. Others joined the military due to family history and or career opportunities and then later found themselves in the predicament. A minority probably volunteered due to events such as 911 or ethnic cleansing (such as Pat Tillman).

There are many examples of why people fight for freedom. In general, its because those in power have overstepped their bounds and not served the public interest. That can be in many forms including tyranny, little/no representation of the people by the government, colonization by a foreign country, etc. Also, due to how a country is run, it can get to the point where people feel they have nothing to lose and rebel against the current system.
At the end of the day-- its becuase people get fed up with being screwed by their government. Unfortuetely, they can get something worse after.
Some of examples:
- USA - revolutionary war against the Brits.
- India - peaceful (mostly) "fight" against the Brits
- Israel/Palestine - Jews/Israelis fighting against the Brits
- Mexico - freedom from Spain
- South Africa - fighting against Apartheid
- US Civil War - conflict over states rights re: slavery essentially
- Russia/USSR - Revolution against the CZARs etc. and later against communism.
No particular bias towards the brits btw---just those came to mind.

The leaders give the citizens that Ideal so they and their families
don't have to die for Freedom.
Have you noticed in the Arab world that the suicide bomber reaches his highest glory with Allah yet none of the rulers
planners, or upper classes and their families are volnteering for that privilege?
An Egyptian man lost his son that way a few years back
and was the only one with any guts to shout that as he cursed Bin Ladin and his Brude.

The simple answer is because these men believed in their country and loved their family.
Like the others said, you should do your own work. It builds character.
